An excerpt from an early experimental video narrative. Based on the original screenplay by Carol Rainey, “Momma Gets Her Ready” was a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts’ New England Regional Fellowship in Video. Partially shot with a surveillance camera, the piece gives us a glimpse into the life of a child being raised alone in a house by a remote “VideoMom.” Critics praised the piece as “Orwellian” and USA Network ran it on Halloween for several years. Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibits also curated “Momma” for a collection of video art to tour European museums. Actors: Stuart Birney, Geraldine LaBrandi, Brooke Raney.
