A co-production with NOVA, this hour-long PBS documentary examines the cultural and economic factors behind the trend that medicalizes a woman's normal mid-life transition. New research in the areas of women's reproductive health is also examined. Narrated by Stockard Channing, the program features singer Ruth Pointer, 47 and the new mother of twins. The National Institutes of Health-awarded grant was written by Rainey and Dr. Nancy Avis for the New England Research Institutes. Distributed by WGBH in Boston.
